What's In THIS Moment?

No joke and no exaggeration—I am majorly struggling to stay present and trust in each and every moment.  I have so many opportunities to live what I preach and instead of embracing these times to practice staying calm and open to what is in any particular moment, I often FAIL, but fail without judgment, I try!

“Challenges (Bad things) happen to us to give us perspective…” S. Twain

I went with a dear friend recently to get manicures and pedicures.  Practicing good self-care, of course.  My friend was called for her appointment and I was called shortly thereafter.  I didn’t think too much of us being called separately since I had confirmed 3 times that we’d be sitting next to each other…after all, what’s the point of going for manicures and pedicures together if you’re not sitting next to each other??

I’m in one end of the room and Caryn is way in the back…we begin to text.  I’m fuming; so upset about this (can you believe?!).  Thank goodness for reflection and distance from our feelings and reactions…it’s tough in the now to comprehend my reaction!  But I accept it, own it and WILL learn from it!

I wrote to Caryn and asked what the lesson is here…Caryn sends a text back to me which says, “Ask for what I want”.  That’s it--know what you want and ask (perhaps more than 3 times!) for it (a major lesson and the core of self-care!)…and then trust that everyone does the best they can.  Sometimes the best is not sitting you next to your friend!  Perhaps an opportunity to let go of my expectations and to appreciate the moment just as it is.

Thank you Universe for another opportunity to practice letting go!  And to my Dad, who even on Father's Day, reminds me to let go.  Thanks for the reminder, Dad and for teaching by example.  That's how we learn best!

What’s your self-care for today?  Perhaps a wonderful bath!

Up Next: How my yoga practice and the studio has changed my life!  Just a hint: the Universe always delivers just what we need.  After writing this post, my yoga class the following morning was all about our moments, our life, these moments making our life!...
